Peugeot vans overview

Peugeot is an amazingly old company — it started up more than 200 years ago making kitchenware (it still does…) before diversifying into cars in the late 1800s. In fact, the first Peugeot van, the Type 13, was made back as far as 1895. It was a tiny tricycle thing, but it could lug an impressive half-a-tonne.

In the 1930s and 1950s, Peugeot started to make its legendarily tough 03 and 04 van models, and it was one of the first car makers to create a front-wheel drive van, which had a much lower loading height at the back. Peugeot is also famous for its car-based vans, with models such as the 205 and 305 spinning off van models that were pretty much as good to drive — and as fast — as their car cousins.

Now, the Peugeot van lineup consists of the Partner, the Expert, and the big Boxer, all of which are available in diesel or fully-electric forms.

FAQs

Yes, generally speaking Peugeot vans are very reliable, although you’ll need to keep an eye on diesel particulate filters if the van has been used mostly for urban deliveries.

Yes, they’re really good. The compact Partner is quite car-like to drive, while the mid-sized Expert is capable of hauling more than 1.3 tonnes of payload.

Yes, they are - Peugeot shares a lot of its car components with its vans, so the vans tend to have comfortable seats in the cab.

The best Peugeot van is probably the Expert, which is large enough to carry a heavy load, but still compact enough that it’s easy to manoeuvre in town.
