About Suzuki

Suzuki has been around longer than you think. The company was founded in 1909. Way back then it made weaving looms. In the 21st century Suzuki is better known for its cars, motorbikes, all-terrain vehicles, and outboard boat engines.

In the UK, Suzuki started selling motorbikes in 1963, with the first car dealership opening its doors seven years later.

Perhaps Suzuki鈥檚 best-known model is the Jimny, a shrunken off-roader. Over several generations the Jimny has earned a loyal following, with the model launched in 2018 being a huge success. Although that car is now off sale it is very sought after on the used market.

Today鈥檚 Suzuki range is largely made up of small cars, with the quirky Ignis being the smallest of all. However, Suzuki doesn鈥檛 just offer tiny hatchbacks, with the Swace family car (a rebadged Toyota Corolla) and the Across (a Toyota RAV4 under the skin) expanding Suzuki鈥檚 reach.

What our car expert says

“If you鈥檙e being sensible, the best Suzuki models are the ones borrowed from Toyota. But if you find sensible cars boring the tiny Ignis is a hoot to drive with the fun-loving character of a yappy terrier.”
