The Smart #3 is the second model from the newly revitalised Smart brand that no longer makes tiny, impractical city cars. Instead it’s a full-size coupe SUV packed full of technology, with a long range on a charge and a seriously potent Brabus version available to lease.

Key highlights of the Smart #3

You might remember Smart from models such as the ForTwo. One of the smallest cars on the road, the two-seat runabout wasn’t much use outside of city streets. Now Smart is part-owned by Chinese giant Geely, and there’s a pair of exciting new models available to personal and business leasing customers. 

Following the #1 hatchback, the #3 is longer, wider and lower, offering a more stylish and sporty approach but maintaining plenty of practicality. Despite its swooping roofline there’s loads of space for adults and a useful 370-litre boot. 

Another reason to lease the Smart #3 is its standard technology and equipment. Even entry-level models have a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, heated front seats and an electric tailgate, while you’ll also find a 12.8-inch infotainment system with an advanced voice assistant.

Smart #3 performance and range

Most Smart #3 models are powered by a rear-mounted 268bhp electric motor, enough for a very brisk 0-62mph time of 5.8 seconds. That’s potent performance in most people’s eyes, but there is an even faster option. 

The Smart #3 Brabus will show some of the fastest sports cars a clean pair of heels. With a massive 422bhp and all-wheel drive it’s capable of 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds.

There’s two battery sizes and a variety of options for range depending on your leasing budget and needs. The entry-level Pro model has a 49kWh battery and manages 202 miles on the official combined test, but if that isn’t enough for you all other versions have a 66kWh battery. This gives a range of up to 283 miles on a charge. 

The Brabus model’s storming performance has some impact on range, yet it’ll still manage up to 258 miles combined.

When you do need to charge the Smart #3, all versions are capable of a 10-80% charge in under 30 minutes using a suitable High Power charger, such as those on the .The entry-level Pro model accepts charging speeds up to 130kW, while this increases to 150kW for all other variants.
