Key highlights of the Polestar 4
The Polestar 4 marks a key moment for the -owned Swedish brand as its third all-electric model. It sits on a new platform unrelated to other Polestar models and features a real design-led approach.
The sleek shape of the 4.8-metre-long Polestar 4 makes it lower than many traditional SUVs, but the most radical design touch is the removal of the usual rear window. Using both mirrors and camera feeds to provide a view out the back instead, the approach gives a sleeker roof shape while also benefitting rear seat space – this is a much roomier car than the Polestar 2.
Inside the Polestar 4’s premium interior you’ll find high quality sustainable materials including recycled knitted fabric and either vegan upholstery or ‘welfare-secured’ Nappa leather.
Advanced technology includes a 15.4-inch Google-powered touchscreen and a 10.2-inch instrument screen, with features such as over-the-air updates and Google voice control. There’s also been a big focus on safety: the Polestar 4 has no less than 12 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensor and radar. That’ll also enable advanced self-driving functions including, when allowed, full ‘eyes-off’ self-driving on motorways.
With such future-thinking technology, the Polestar 4 is a great electric car to lease that’ll still feel modern in years to come.
Polestar 4 performance and range
Despite being packed with features the Polestar 4 offers both strong performance and a long range on a charge.
The Single Motor models put 268bhp through the rear wheels, enough for a brisk 0-62mph time of 7.1 seconds. But if that’s a bit tame for you, check out the Dual Motor models with all-wheel drive and a whopping 536bhp. The 0-62mph time is a sports car-baiting 3.8 seconds.
All versions of the Polestar 4 use a large 100kWh battery pack. That’s enough for a range of up to 372 miles in official tests for the Single Motor model, and 347 miles for the Dual Motor. Rapid charging speeds of up to 200kW ensure you won’t be hanging around too long, either.
