The all-new MINI Cooper Electric is a fresh take on the reborn small car icon, bringing up-to-date EV technology and a sharper look. With a much longer range it’s more capable than the old MINI Electric Hatchback, but it remains an affordable car to lease.
Key highlights of the MINI Cooper Electric
It’s been a long time coming, but the all-new fourth generation MINI Cooper is now available to lease on GRIDSERVE. The iconic British small car is now fully up-to-date, with more capability, range and technology than ever, but it remains instantly recognisable.
Bucking the trend for ever-bigger cars, the new MINI is actually shorter than before on the outside, but boasts more passenger space inside. The interior is a revelation, too, with a clever circular OLED touchscreen and stylish materials including a knitted dashboard top.
But the big upgrade for many is the increase in both range and charging speed. With the option of the more affordable Cooper Electric E model and the longer-range, faster Cooper Electric SE, there’s something for every need. MINI’s famed go-kart handling remains intact, too, so it’ll be fun to drive around town and on the open road.
MINI Cooper Electric performance and range
If you opt for the entry-level MINI Cooper Electric E, you’ll get a 182bhp electric motor powering the front wheels. That’s enough for a brisk 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds.
The entry-level E is also powered by a 41kWh battery giving an official WLTP of 190 miles, or a real-world estimate of roughly 162 miles. With 75kW rapid charging speeds, a 10-80% charge is possible in around 27 minutes, too.
If those figures aren’t enough for you then check out the MINI Cooper Electric SE. That uses a more powerful 215bhp electric motor for a faster 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds.
Perhaps even more important is the range increase, with a larger 54kWh battery pack enabling an official range of up to 250 miles, with 212 miles as a real-world estimate. It also gets faster 95kW rapid charging for a 10-80% charge in around 30 minutes.
