Key highlights of the KGM Torres

KGM Motors UK is the company formerly known as SsangYong, now relaunched and revamped. You don’t overhaul a brand without a new product, so the promising new KGM Torres EVX is an all-new flagship electric SUV.

The rugged-looking Torres EVX  is slightly larger than the Skoda Enyaq iV and Nissan Ariya, and uses that size with claims of it being one of the most practical cars in its class. There’s loads of space inside for five adults, while the 703-litre boot is one of the largest of any electric car available to lease.

There’s also impressive new levels of technology in the KGM Motors Torres EVX. This includes dual 12.3-inch interior displays, heated and ventilated front, keyless go and adaptive cruise control even on the entry-level Torres K30. 

Step up to the K40 and you get a 360-degree surround-view camera system, an electric tailgate, blind-spot protection and rear cross-traffic alert, along with no fewer than eight airbags for extra safety. What’s more, there’s Vehicle-to-Load capability allowing you to power tools or appliances using the car’s battery. 

SsangYong built a reputation for durable, tough cars, and the rebrand to KGM Motors will continue this. The brand offers a ten-year, one-million kilometre guarantee covering the condition of the battery, along with an already generous five-year, 100,000-mile warranty. This makes the KGM Torres EVX an excellent choice for long-term leasing.

KGM Torres performance and range

Every version of the KGM Torres EVX comes with a 204bhp electric motor powering the front wheels. 0-62mph takes a sprightly 8.1 seconds as a result. 

There’s also the sole option of a 73kWh battery pack combining with that motor. The battery is sourced from well-proven Chinese giant BYD, featuring cell-to-pack construction. 

That allows the KGM Motors Torres EVX to manage up to 287 miles between charges in official testing - plenty for commutes, urban driving or longer motorway journeys. 

When you do need to charge the Torres EVX up, it will accept peak fast charging of up to 145kW using a suitable DC rapid charger, such as those on the . That’s sufficient for a 10-80% charge in just 37 minutes.
