Ford’s all-new Explorer electric SUV is a great choice to lease, offering a long range on a charge, a practical cabin and all the latest technology along with an enjoyable drive.
Key highlights of the Ford Explorer
Ford is one of the longest-standing and most popular brands in the world, so it’s natural that people stand up and take notice when a new electric model with the Blue Oval badge is launched to leasing customers.
The new Ford Explorer borrows its name from a legendary gas-guzzling US off-roader, but couldn’t be more different. Similar in size to the Volkswagen ID.4 with which it shares key components, the sleek new all-electric Explorer is likely to be a huge seller thanks to its strong list of talents.
Alongside its stylish design, the interior features great technology. Every model is fitted as standard with a 14.6-inch portrait infotainment system that can be tilted up and down to reduce glare, while also revealing a lockable storage compartment behind.
Other cool tech includes a B&O premium audio system with a soundbar in the dash, as well as Matrix LED headlamps and a 360-degree camera system.
There’s also lots of practical touches including a 17-litre ‘MegaConsole’ cubby space between the front seats and a 470-litre boot. There’s plenty of space for five adults thanks to a flat rear floor and lots of head and legroom, too.
Ford Explorer performance and range
All versions of the Ford Explorer offer a good balance between range and performance, with its flexibility making it suitable for a wide range of customers looking to lease a new electric car.
Entry-level Select models feature a single motor with 282bhp powering the rear-wheel, giving strong performance with a 0-62mph time of just 6.4 seconds. Despite that brisk acceleration, the 77kWh battery promises a range of up to 374 miles on a charge.
Stepping up to Premium models adds bigger wheels and more equipment to reduce the range to up to 354 miles, which is still plenty for most people.
Ford also gives you the option of sacrificing a little bit of range for even more performance with the 79kWh AWD model. This has dual motors for a combined 335bhp, bringing the 0-62mph time down to a properly fast 5.3 seconds. Its slightly larger battery enables a still long range of up to 329 miles.
Single motor versions of the Ford Explorer rapid charge at up to 135kW, allowing a 10-80% battery top up in as little as 28 minutes. The dual motor version manages a peak charge rate of up to 185kW, reducing that charge time to 26 minutes using a suitable charger, such as those on the .
