The Fiat E-Scudo is an all-new model from Fiat that replaces the outgoing non-electric Talento. Despite the very Italian sounding name, the E-Scudo is likely to be built in the UK at Vauxhall’s factory alongside its sibling, the Vivaro Electric. That’s because both Fiat and Vauxhall are part of the Stellantis group. It stays true to its Italian roots with the styling, though, as the smart grille and new Fiat badge help it stand out from the crowd. Overall, the E-Scudo has impressive payload, strong range and is good to drive.
Key highlights
The Fiat E-Scudo is a medium-sized van that is available in standard and long wheelbase (Maxi), as well as a crew cab or chassis cab. The E-Scudo has the same load volume and payload as the diesel version, with a maximum payload of 1,200kg. It features a ‘magic cargo’ system, including a folding hatch under the passenger seat that extends loading area to around 4m, as well as the ability to convert the seat into a table for your laptop, tablet or packed lunch. Business spec versions of the E-Scudo comes packed with technology, including a seven-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus there are 13 different safety systems including traffic signal detection, lane departure warning and a rear view camera.
Performance and range
The E-Scudo has been designed for the electric era from the start, which means you get smooth driving, a comfortable ride and excellent packaging. The E-Scudo is available with either a 50kWh battery which delivers 142 miles of range, or a bigger 75kWh battery for an impressive 205 miles. Helpfully, all versions of the E-Scudo provide 100kW charging so you can top up quickly in between jobs on the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway.
