Used GWM Ora cars overview

GWM Ora is part of the massive Chinese car maker Great Wall Motors (which also includes the likes of Haval and Jaecoo — recently arrived in the UK too) and it’s the maker of the dinky little Funky Cat electric hatchback — the one that looks like the love child of an original VW Beetle and a first-generation Nissan Leaf.

The Funky Cat had a lot going for it when it first arrived – and before it was renamed the GMW Ora 03 – although many buyers might have been put off by the name. A good-sized battery gives a useful on-paper range, although that isn’t so great in real world conditions as the Funky Cat is notably inefficient in daily driving.

It also suffers from an incredibly flaky infotainment system and intrusive driver monitoring. It’s quite decent to drive, though, and has a high quality interior, so if you can live with the name it’s not a bad cheap used electric choice.

FAQs

Not especially. The Funky Cat — still the only GWM Ora model sold in the UK — is cute to look at and has a nice cabin, but it’s not great for range and it has a dreadful infotainment system.

Yes, you should buy a used GWM Ora in the sense that second hand Funky Cats are quite cheap, and have enough range for useful second-car duties. Plus they cost buttons to run. However, in terms of quality and range, they’re less good.
