Used Aston Martin cars overview

Aston Martin is a brand with the kind of heritage — Bond, Le Mans, The Persuaders — that most other car makers would kill for. Its cars have generally been amongst the prettiest or most handsome of all time, and most of them are fast, too. Reliable? Not so much, if you’re talking about older models, but from the DB9 onwards things tend to improve. That Ford-sourced V12 engine is actually quite solid, and the later Mercedes V8-based engines are good too. Watch for fragile electrics and electronics, though.

FAQs

Well, there are plenty of Aston Martins made in the 1930s that are still happily running around, so maybe 90-odd years? The thing with Astons is that they’re rare, so even if they become old and worn out, eventually their value is going to start to climb to the point where it makes financial sense to fully restore them — think of all those gorgeous, like-new 1960s DB5s and DB6s — so an Aston Martin, if cared for properly, can last a very long time indeed.

Aston Martin prices are hugely variable, and run the gamut from less than £20,000 for a ratty old DB7 or early V8 Vantage, all the way to literally millions for rare 1950s and 1960s models. For normal people, figure on spending around £40,000 to get a good used DB9 from the mid 2000s, and upwards of £70,000 for something more recent.

It depends… You see, the market for Aston Martins is somewhat tilted by the enormous £500,000+ values for classic models, and the strong values for limited-edition cars such as the Valour. In general, a three-year old ‘standard’ Aston Martin should hold on to about 60% of its original list price, but that will always be hugely option-and-spec dependent.
