Furthermore, the government is looking to cut red tape by speeding up approvals for cross-pavement chargers and potentially scrapping application fees of up to 拢250. At the same time, new protections would stop landlords from overcharging tenants for electricity used to charge their EVs.

Transport secretary Heidi Alexander said the reforms will make switching to electric 鈥渇airer, easier, and cheaper,鈥� calling it a 鈥渂ig boost for the growing British EV industry.鈥�

These plans build on a wave of EV support measures from the government: from the 拢650m Electric Car Grant offering up to 拢3,750 off certain new models to investments in local charging networks across England.

And with over 86,000 chargers now live nationwide, the UK is rapidly expanding its charging infrastructure to meet surging demand.
