Rewind 20 years or so and the idea of a big, heavy SUV with enough power to scare supercars was laughable. Well these days there are plenty of high-riding cars which will do just that.

So if you’ve got a couple hundred thousand pounds burning a hole in your pocket, which brand should you go for: Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche or Audi? Well we’re going to have a drag race to find out which one makes the fastest SUV.

Lamborghini Urus Performante

The Lamborghini Urus Performance has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 666hp and 850Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

It tips the scales at 2,150kg, and it costs a rather hefty £208,400.

Bentley Bentayga

The Bentley Bentayga also has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, and it’s very closely related to the one you find in the Urus. Here it puts out 550hp and 770Nm of torque, and it has four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Being a Bentley, this car is packed with wood and leather which pushes the weight up to 2,416kg. All this luxury is pretty expensive as well, because the Bentayga costs £222,500.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe E-Hybrid

Now we come to the only hybrid model in today’s lineup. The 4.0-litre V8 in the Porsche Cayenne is assisted by an electric motor to give it a combined 739hp and 950Nm of torque. Like the other cars here, it also has all-wheel drive.

The hybrid gubbins push the weight up a bit, and at 2,495kg the Porsche is the heaviest car here. You’ll have to part with £165,000 for this car.

Audi RS Q8 Performance

Finally we come to the Audi, and it’s powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as everything else here. It puts out 640hp and 850Nm of torque, and power is sent to all four wheels.

It weighs 2,275kg, and costs £122,280.
