What happens when you put a race-honed, 12-cylinder piece of Italian exotica up against a three-cylinder hatchback from Japan? Well, the answer’s not necessarily clear-cut, which is why we’ve got just that on the Á«»¨Ö±²¥ drag strip today in the form of a Ferrari 812 Superfast and a Toyota GR Yaris.

As amazing as the standard GR Yaris is, though, it wouldn’t stand a chance against the 812 Superfast in its standard form – so we’ve got our hands on one that’s been tuned up to the max to make it a bit of a fairer fight. Let’s take a look at the all-important numbers.

Ferrari 812 Superfast

With a name like ‘Superfast’ Ferrari was hardly going to fit its flagship with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. So this sleek-looking supercar packs a 6.5-litre V12 engine under its long bonnet.

The naturally-aspirated engine produces a mammoth 800hp and 718Nm of torque, and puts its power exclusively to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It weighs in at 1,630kg, and when it was new it would have cost a hefty £260,908.

Toyota GR Yaris tuned by Garage Whifbitz

We’ve done a few drag races with various examples of the Toyota GR Yaris now – it’s an amazing car, and was Highly Commended in the 2025 Á«»¨Ö±²¥ Car of the Year Awards. But this isn’t your average GR Yaris – it’s been tuned up by Garage Whifbitz to an insane degree.

The fully-built engine is still a 1.6-litre, three-cylinder turbo, but makes an amazing 630hp and 430Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a new sequential manual transmission. It tips the scales at 1,280kg, and will lighten your wallet to the tune of £130,000 – nearly three times what you’d pay for a brand-new GR Yaris, but still half of what the Ferrari costs.
