This is the new Changan Deepal S07. Never heard of Changan? You’re not alone. It’s a bit of a car-building giant in China, but it’s just breaking into the UK market in 2025 with this new electric SUV.

The Deepal S07 costs £39,990, placing it right in the firing line of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y. You can order yours now from one of 20 new dealerships across the country, and that’ll expand to 50 by the end of 2025.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Á«»¨Ö±²¥. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

New Changan Deepal S07 price, specs and alternatives

Choosing which Deepal S07 is right for you is easy, because there’s just one trim level. For £39,990 you get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera system, a head-up display and an energy-efficient heat pump.

But what else could you buy for similar money? Here are five cars the Deepal S07 will be going up against.

1. Hyundai Ioniq 5

Costs almost exactly the same as the Changan with standout styling and a lovely interior, but the boot isn’t massive.

2. Tesla Model Y

Cavernous interior, a massive boot and loads of tech, but the button-free dashboard can get annoying and it’s £5,000 more expensive than the Deepal S07.

3. Volvo EC40

Sleek Scandinavian styling and loads of safety kit, but the rear visibility is terrible.

4. Skoda Elroq

One of the best electric SUVs you can buy. It’s practical, well-equipped and super comfy to drive. It’s also over £8,000 cheaper than the Deepal S07, it’s just not all that exciting to look at.

5. Kia EV3

Massive electric range and an impressive seven-year warranty. It’s just a shame that you have to shell out for the top-spec version to get a heat pump.

New Changan Deepal S07: design and specs

In a sea of samey electric SUVs, the Changan Deepal S07 at least looks a bit different. THe sleek headlights, pointy nose and massive air intakes give it proper road presence, and the LED rear light bar looks smart as well.

Moving inside, this car has very bright terracotta-coloured upholstery. It’s a fairly simple cabin, with minimal buttons and a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen in the centre. That display can also rotate to a portrait orientation, just like the BYD Sealion 7, but we’re still at odds to understand why you would need to do this.

Powering the Deepal S07 is a single electric motor on the rear axle, and it puts out 218hp. That’s enough for 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds, which is around half a second quicker than a basic Hyundai Ioniq 5.

You also get an 80kWh battery which gives this car 295 miles of range, but its fast charging capabilities are a bit behind the times. A 10-80% top up will take 48 minutes, whereas a Kia EV3 will do the same in under half an hour.

We haven’t had the chance to drive the Changan Deepal S07 yet, but it won’t be long before we get behind the wheel. Keep an eye out for our full verdict soon.
