Colour guide
Solid - Alpine white
Free
This is the only solid paint finish on offer as well as the only no-cost option for both trim levels. Alpine white may lack a metallic sparkle, but it suits the X5 well and should be popular with used car buyers. You also save a few hundred pounds that could go towards a plusher leather interior trim.
Metallic - Black sapphire
拢795
You can鈥檛 go wrong with metallic Black on a large German SUV. This hue contrasts nicely with the silver exterior detailing on the X Line trim. It also works well with the darker window surrounds on the M Sport trim. For maximum stealth points, spec the Jet Black alloy wheels, too.

Metallic - Blue ridge mountain
拢795
Rather than being a more traditional blue, Blue ridge mountain has a greeny undertone to it that looks quite tropical. However, it doesn't work that well on the X5 and won't be particularly popular on the used market.
Metallic - Brooklyn grey
拢795
This grey isn鈥檛 too light to drown out the silvery trims pieces on the xLine, but not so dark to disrupt the black trim pieces on the M Sport or M models. It鈥檚 not the most exciting option though.
Metallic - Carbon black
拢795
Carbon black is more of a very dark blue with a subtle metallic sparkle. It can look almost black in certain lights and won鈥檛 need constant washing to look its best. Available solely on the M Sport trim, it鈥檚 a truly stunning hue that works especially when combined with a light-coloured leather interior.
Metallic - Manhattan green
拢795
Metallic - Marina Bay blue
拢795
Only available with the M-lite M60i, Marina Blue compliments the black trim pieces of the sportier model well. It鈥檚 not too loud that it鈥檚 off-putting, yet not too understated if you want to have some presence on the road. It鈥檚 a great choice.
Metallic - Mineral white
拢795
This bright and crisp hue looks great against the X5鈥檚 black exterior trim pieces. It should mask minor scratches well, although you鈥檒l need to have a bucket and sponge handy after every downpour to keep it looking at its best. You may also want to look at some of the more interesting metallics on offer before deciding on this one, or simply go for the no-cost solid Alpine white option.
Metallic - Skyscraper grey
拢795
Not too dissimilar from Brooklyn Grey, Skyscraper Grey is a slightly darker tone that doesn鈥檛 do a disservice to the trim pieces you鈥檒l find around the X5. Certainly better looking with the M鈥檇 versions, it鈥檚 still not that exciting.
BMW Individual metallic paint - Dravit grey
拢1,890
More of a mix of grey and brown, Dravit Grey is offered on all versions of the X5. It鈥檚 arguably the least inspiring colour for the SUV as it doesn鈥檛 highlight the car鈥檚 details well, nor look good next to the trim pieces.
BMW Individual metallic paint - Tanzanite blue
拢1,890
Darker than Marina Bay blue, Tanzanite Blue is a mainstay of BMW鈥檚 Individual offerings. It鈥檚 understated and looks professional, offering more sheen than other options. It looks the best on the entry xLine model.
Additional BMW Individual metallic paint - Frozen pure grey
拢3,300
The only matte option of the X5鈥檚 offering, Frozen Pure Grey will be tricky to maintain and keep looking its best. That being said, alongside the darker trim pieces of the M models, it looks quite mean and is the best of the four grey paints.
