I really like the Skoda Octavia vRS, and if you buy a used one it鈥檚 even better value for money.
The term 鈥渁ll-rounder鈥 is bandied around a lot these days, but I don鈥檛 think there is a car which epitomises this saying more than the Skoda Octavia vRS.
It鈥檚 quick, spacious, practical, comfortable, reasonably cheap to run and it doesn鈥檛 cost a fortune to buy either. And it鈥檚 even cheaper if you take a look at the second hand market.

Used Skoda Octavia vRS deals
A new Skoda Octavia vRS starts from just under 拢40,000, but you can save an average of 拢2,650 when you buy through 莲花直播. That鈥檚 not bad for a 265hp performance car, but I found an even better deal when browsing used cars on 莲花直播.
This is a 2025 Octavia vRS with just 3,000 miles on the clock, and it鈥檚 listed for just 拢32,290. That鈥檚 a saving of almost 20%.
It may not be the most exciting colour, but it still has all of the vRS sporty tidbits such as the upgraded wheels, aggressive-looking bodykit and body-hugging bucket seats.
Why should you buy a used Skoda Octavia vRS?
Because it ticks so many different boxes. Need cavernous rear legroom for lanky teenagers? The Octavia has you covered. Looking for a massive boot? The standard car has more space than a lot of SUVs, and you can get an estate version which is even bigger.
It鈥檚 not only practical, the vRS has a 265hp 2.0-litre petrol engine which is good for 0-60mph in just 6.4 seconds according to Skoda, but I managed to do it in 6.0 seconds. It may be quick, but it鈥檚 not overly thirsty. Skoda claimed it鈥檒l do 40mpg, and 35mpg is achievable in the real world.
The vRS handles really well, too. It鈥檚 responsive, there鈥檚 plenty of grip and it remains flat through the corners. It鈥檚 not as much fun as a Volkswagen Golf R, but it鈥檚 a lot more practical than that car.
Add in the fact that this is a comfy car for cruising about in and you have a very compelling package. It might not be the most thrilling hot hatch, but it鈥檚 an excellent all-round performance car.
