The new Porsche 911 S/T has been revealed. Based on the GT3, it鈥檚 a limited-run model designed to celebrate the 60th birthday of the 911.

It uses the same engine as the 911 GT3 RS, only it鈥檚 paired to a manual gearbox and it鈥檚 the lightest 992 generation 911 ever made.

New Porsche 911 S/T price and specs

The new Porsche 911 S/T is available to order now, but you鈥檒l have to be quick if you want one for your collection. Just 1,963 of these cars will be available worldwide, a reference to the year in which the first 911 was launched.

You鈥檒l need to have deep pockets as well, because the S/T starts from 拢231,600. So what do you get for your money? Well all cars get forged magnesium wheels which measure 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, half-leather bucket seats, LED headlights, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control and much more. Being a limited-run Porsche though, it鈥檚 pretty easy to push the price up with the options book.

New Porsche 911 S/T design

The new Porsche 911 S/T is based on the 911 GT3 Touring, so the general shape is more or less the same as that car鈥檚. Being a limited-edition car, there are a few unique styling details.

Up front, you have the same bonnet as the GT3 with two air vents, as well as some sporty-looking creases. You also have the GT3鈥檚 bumper with large intakes lower down.

This Shore Blue Metallic paint is part of the Heritage Design Package, as are the racing decals. This package will set you back 拢15,000 on top of the asking price. The S/T is sitting on magnesium wheels measuring 20-inches at the front and 21-inches at the rear.

Being based on the GT3 Touring, there鈥檚 no wing at the back. You have an aggressive-looking lower diffuser, twin centre-exit tailpipes and some unique badging on the engine cover.

New Porsche 911 S/T engine and performance

It may be based on the 911 GT3 Touring, but the new Porsche 911 S/T doesn鈥檛 use that car鈥檚 engine. Instead, it uses the same screaming 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six as the GT3 RS.

That鈥檚 not all. In order to make this car even more engaging to drive, it鈥檚 fitted with a short-throw six-speed manual gearbox, something you can鈥檛 get on the GT3 RS. It also has a lighted clutch and flywheel to make the engine feel more responsive.

You get the same 525hp as the car it comes from, and it鈥檒l do 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds. That鈥檚 around half a second slower than GT3 RS, which is to be expected when you have three pedals.

New Porsche 911 S/T chassis and suspension

Whereas the GT3 is designed to shine on track, the new Porsche 911 S/T has been built to be fun on the public road (hence the manual gearbox).

To help it feel even more engaging on a twisty stretch of tarmac, this is the lightest 992 generation 911 ever made tipping the scales at 1,380kg. That鈥檚 40kg lighter than the 911 GT3 Touring with a manual gearbox.

To help keep the weight down, the S/T鈥檚 bonnet, roof, doors and wings are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic. Those magnesium wheels also save some pounds, and you have lightened glass and less insulation.

New Porsche 911 S/T interior

There are a few choice upgrades to the interior of the new Porsche 911 S/T, including the carbon fibre bucket seats you get as standard. There鈥檚 also a CFRP roll cage in the rear.

If you splash out for that 拢15,000 heritage design package, you also get some retro-inspired cloth seats with a pinstripe design, as well as some new colour options for the dashboard.
