Mercedes has teased a new electric car which could replace the AMG GT 4-Door, and it鈥檒l use an array of new technology. Read on for everything we know so far.

What you鈥檙e looking at here is likely to be a replacement for the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door, and you won鈥檛 find a thumping great V8 under the bonnet. It鈥檚 going to be an electric car, and it鈥檒l use a selection of all-new parts.
The highlight here is the axial flux motors, which are more powerful and efficient than conventional electric motors. A full reveal of this Porsche Taycan alternative is not expected until 2025.
New Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV motors and performance
Mercedes-AMG is working on an all-new collection of EV parts called AMG.EA (Electric Architecture), and it鈥檚 the first bespoke performance electric car platform from the brand since the AMG SLS Electric Drive from 2013.
The brand is remaining tight-lipped about any performance details at the moment, probably because this technology is still in the very early stages of development, however it鈥檒l use similar axial flux motors as the Mercedes Vision One-Eleven concept from last year.
Mercedes claims that axial flux technology offers 鈥渁n unparalleled mix of power density, size, and weight鈥, and this new power unit will be paired with a new high performance battery. While there are no official power figures yet, you can expect it to have more than the 843hp you get in the current Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door.
New Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV design
These camouflaged teasers are your first and only look at the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door, and it looks as though it鈥檒l have a similar silhouette to the current car.
You can see the sleek LED headlights poking out of the wrap with a similar swoopy shape to the new Mercedes SL. There鈥檚 no grille in sight here, which makes sense seeing as there鈥檚 no engine under the bonnet to cool, but there could be some shiny plastic hiding under the disguise.
The sweeping sporty roofline looks suitably coupe-like, and there鈥檚 a massive rear wing for added downforce. You can ignore those blocky rear lights for now as these are just for development purposes, the final car is likely to have some funky LED units.
