Car changing is a big deal
A new track-focussed version of the Lotus Evija has been spotted testing at the Nurburgring, and it looks like it鈥檒l be even faster than the standard car. Read on for all you need to know.
- New Lotus Evija X spotted
- Track-only version of the Evija hypercar
- Aggressive-looking aerodynamic modifications
- May be chasing Nurburgring record
- Unlikely to be available for sale
This is the new Lotus Evija X, and it鈥檚 a track-only version of the Evija hypercar. Not much is known about the technical specs, however this model could be going after the Nurburgring lap record for electric cars.
New Lotus Evija X styling
The 鈥榥ormal鈥 Lotus Evija is already a crazy-looking thing, however this new track-only version has certainly turned up the wick.

You can tell it鈥檚 a track-only car by the lack of headlights up front. It鈥檚 also got an enormous front splitter and aero fins for added downforce.

You also have some massive side skirts, so big they need to be supported with metal posts, and the car appears to be finished in bare carbon fibre.

The elephant in the room here is that rear wing. It鈥檚 taller than the roofline of the car, making the spoiler on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS look subtle. You also have a big rear diffuser, as well as the same air vents within the taillights as the standard car.
New Lotus Evija X power and performance
Not much is known about what鈥檚 powering this Lotus Evija X, however it鈥檚 likely to use the same quad-motor setup as the standard car. This means it will have more than 2,000hp.

This Evija X looks as though it鈥檚 going after the Nurburgring lap record for electric cars, currently held by the Volkswagen ID R at 6 minutes 5 seconds. To beat this, the Evija X looks as though it鈥檚 been stripped out to save weight, as well as being stiffened with a roll cage.
Lotus released a statement on the Evija X, saying the following:
鈥淭he Evija X is an all-new technology concept from Lotus. Based on the Evija road car, it is the ultimate expression of Evija and has been testing on multiple racetracks in multiple countries in the last weeks. We have made great progress, successfully meeting all our objectives, and learning about the challenges of lapping the N眉rburgring Nordschleife. The Lotus engineering team continues to push the boundaries of what鈥檚 possible with the Evija and the world鈥檚 most powerful EV powertrain.鈥
New Lotus Evija X: will it go on sale?
The Lotus Evija X is likely to be a one-off model built to take lap records, so it鈥檚 unlikely you鈥檒l be able to park one on your drive anytime soon. If you were to put a price to it, the standard car started from 拢1.7 million, so this version would likely push way north of the 拢2 million mark.
