August 12, 2016 by

The new Renault Megane is a stylish family hatchback that builds on Renault鈥檚 renewed 鈥榲a va voom鈥 for building聽desirable and affordable cars. With a practical interior and聽plenty of tech, it鈥檚 a great choice for those looking for a classy small car without the premium price tag.

There鈥檚 a wide choice of colours for buyers to choose from, so our guide will聽help you pick聽which shade you want.聽If you want to learn the difference between聽solid, metallic and special聽paint finishes, our car paint types guide explains all you need to know.

Glacier WHITE 鈥撀犅0

Glacier White is the sole no-cost option for the Megane and, considering聽white is a popular shade, we鈥檇 expect to see lots of Meganes like this on the road. It shows off the Renault鈥檚 sharp lines, but the lack of a metallic flake聽means it doesn鈥檛 look quite聽as special as optional colours further down. It鈥檒l be easy to sell to the used market but plenty of visits to the car wash will be needed over its life.

A light silver such as聽this is always a safe choice for a new car, and this metallic shade will ensure easy resale to the used market. It鈥檚 not the most inspiring of colours and it鈥檒l be tricky聽to keep clean but, as an all round shade, it鈥檚 thoroughly inoffensive.

Dark grey is an ever-popular colour for new cars, and it gives the Megane a premium appearance that鈥檚 enhanced聽by the smart LED lights and bold Renault badge. Being dark, it鈥檒l hide road grime for a good while before needing a clean and used buyers will be happy to take this hue off your hands.

Cosmos Blue 鈥撀犅525 (not available on GT-Line naV OR gt naV)

Cosmos Blue is a rich shade that looks upmarket. It should be fairly easy to keep clean compared to lighter colours and will attract used buyers looking for something other than the normal blacks and greys. It聽isn鈥檛 available on sportier GT-Line Nav and GT Nav cars.

Dune 鈥撀犅525 (NOT AVAILABLE ON GT-LINE NAV OR GT NAV)

Dune, as its name suggests, is a sandy聽shade somewhere between gold and silver. It聽should hide dirt for a long time before needing a clean but聽used buyers might not snap this shade up as readily as more conventional colours. Like聽Cosmos Blue, Dune isn鈥檛 available on the top two trim levels.

Diamond Black 鈥撀犅525

Black is always a popular choice with both new and used buyers聽so you聽probably won鈥檛聽struggle selling this colour on. Unlike聽most darker shades, black is聽a pain to keep clean and cheaper car washes can leave swirl marks so don鈥檛 cut corners.

Steel Blue 鈥 拢525

Steel Blue is paler than the other blues available聽with more of a silver hue. Its lightness means it鈥檒l take more cleaning than a darker colour but used buyers are unlikely to be put off by this shade.

Special colours

Flame Red 鈥 拢625

Flame Red will help聽your Megane stand out.聽Being a pretty extrovert colour, it might be marginally harder to sell than more conventional ones and a fairly聽frequent cleaning schedule is recommended for best results. It鈥檚 slightly more expensive than other metallic shades but, if you want a red Megane,聽it鈥檚 your only option.

Arctic White 鈥 拢625

Renault聽offers two different whites for聽the Megane and, while聽most buyers will probably end up choosing the solid shade, this special聽shade offers a richer finish thanks to microscopic聽flakes in the paintwork. Like all whites, used buyers will be quick to snap this colour up provided you clean it frequently.

Iron Blue 鈥 拢625 (only on GT-Line Nav and GT Nav)

Iron Blue is only available on the two most expensive trim levels. It鈥檚 an eye-catching colour that suits the Megane鈥檚 sharp shape and lends it a sporting air. Used buyers are likely to be tempted by this hue and it鈥檒l do a middling job at hiding road grime.
